Stubborn Stump Grinding and Tree Care provides stump grinding and stump removal throughout Calgary and surrounding communities. We handle everything from backyard stumps to larger, more difficult jobs.
Most stump grinding jobs in Calgary run about $8–$25 per inch. We have multiple stump grinders for standard and tight-access work, and our machines fit through gates as narrow as 29 inches.
We normally grind 6–12 inches below grade. For an estimate, send us the stump size, property address and access details using the form below.
Send us the basics and we’ll get back to you with the next step.

We use the right grinder for the access and size of the job, protect the surrounding area, and grind the stump to the depth needed for the site.
Most stump grinding jobs in Calgary run about $8–$25 per inch. Diameter is the starting point, but access, roots, grinding depth, and whether cleanup and hauling are included can all affect the final price.
Bigger stumps mean more grinding, more chips and more time. Diameter is where we start when pricing.
If there are a lot of stumps on one property, we may price the work as a day rate instead of by the inch. For just a few stumps, each one is still priced based on the work involved.
Our grinders fit through a 29-inch gate. Stairs, steep slopes, tight corners and other obstacles can still add setup time.
A stump with a wide flare or heavy surface roots can be a lot more work than a straight stump of the same diameter.
We normally grind 6–12 inches below grade. If you need us to go deeper, that can add to the cost.
Most stump grinding jobs include cleanup and hauling. If you’d rather keep the grindings on site for backfill or landscaping, just let us know.
Stumps tight to concrete, retaining walls, utilities or structures take more care and more setup.

Yes. We can chase and grind larger surface roots around the stump when needed. Extra root work is priced based on the work involved.
It’s usually better to plant the new tree away from the old stump location. Remaining roots, fresh wood chips and decomposing woody material can make the old planting site less suitable for a new tree.
